Deep Breath

This spring has been so busy for PTU.

  • We hired Hannah Hockkeppel as our new Director of Youth Engagement.
  • We planned and carried out three Let’s Go Together gatherings in Skagit County. We gathered about 70 people from diverse organizations to recognize and honor our common humanity.
  • We published my new book, Go and Do Likewise, and held many book events across Western Washington.
  • We created our Potluck for Democracy toolkit in partnership with Seattle University’s Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement.

We are now moving into a phase of spreading the word about the Potluck across the nation. We want to help individuals and community organizations to find their power to come together and strengthen our democracy and communities.

Hannah, Ean (our Director of Media), and I will be traveling to Louisville, KY to speak about our work at the Episcopal General Convention. We will share a vision: What if communities of wisdom gathered with other groups in their neighborhoods to honor and uplift our common humanity?

We believe that communities of wisdom have the power to create

  • Respectful relationships
  • Partnerships between civic groups
  • A symbol of hope, showing that we have more in common than we think.

We are taking a deep breath to catch up with all that has happened.

We are also taking a deep breath in preparation for the work that is to come.
