Reflections of a Pioneering Priest
by Father William Treacy
In this warm, honest, and inspiring book, Father William Treacy tells of the people and experiences that filled his 60 years of ministry in the Pacific Northwest.
Always a pioneer, the Irish-born priest is best known for his work with Rabbi Raphael Levine on the ground-breaking, interfaith discussion program, “Challenge,” which aired on KOMO-TV from 1960 to 1974. In 1967, they founded Camp Brotherhood, a place where people of all religions and races can feel at home and share with each other.
“Of all the programs that aired over KOMO-TV and KOMO Radio during my 53 years of tenure, not one other program ever achieved the widespread and universal warm approval as did ‘Challenge,’” wrote former KOMO-TV Manager William Warren in a letter to Fr. Treacy. “That it still lives on in the hearts and minds of the broadcast audience and will continue to do so through Camp Brotherhood is an ever lasting tribute to you and Rabbi Levine.”
