Wild Branch on the Olive Tree
by Father William Treacy and Rabbi Raphael Levine
Father William Treacy came from Ireland and Rabbi Raphael Levine from Poland; and in Seattle, Washington, both carved brilliant careers in church and synagogue respectively. In 1960, their paths crossed when they became fellow panelists on the TV program ‘Challenge.’ At that time, Father Treacy was associate pastor of St. James Cathedral and Rabbi Levine, senior rabbi at Temple De Hirsch.
Together they founded an interfaith center in the Pacific Northwest, led a people-to-people tour to Europe and the Middle East, and in 1966 founded Camp Brotherhood, a 320-acre interfaith communication center in the Mount Vernon area of Washington.
Read about their separate journeys from their point of view, and watch them grow and eventually meet and build a friendship rivaled by none. Different walks of life come second to brotherhood, faith, and genuine friendship. They have riveting stories to tell.
