Big ideas like “dignity” and “community” can sound abstract. But when we build them into everyday life, they become real. That’s where PTU’s Theory of Growth comes in: we grow at the pace of relationship and learning.
How It Works:
- Relationship means seeing each other as human, especially across differences.
- Learning means reflecting together, asking hard questions, and remembering our deepest values.
- Action means doing small projects together that prove cooperation is possible.
Each of these steps builds trust and motivation for the next.
Working with Our In-Groups:
People need belonging. Change can be scary if it feels like we’re losing our home group. That’s why leaders should lift up their group’s own teachings about dignity and compassion, not shame people for being loyal.
Interfaith work offers a beautiful model—rooted in our traditions, but open to learning from others. It shows that we can be faithful to our own beliefs while joining hands for the common good.
Guardrails for Healthy Growth:
- Be honest about power and history.
- Protect marginalized voices.
- Go slow and stay grounded in relationships.
- Be trauma-informed—everyone carries wounds.
What Success Looks Like:
We’ll know it’s working when people feel heard, when new friendships cross divides, when small projects lead to bigger ones, and when leaders bless those who build bridges.
