The Treacy Levine Center is becoming Paths to Understanding.
We are inspired by the leadership of Rabbi Levine and Father Treacy in the Challenge Program and Camp Brotherhood. We strive to express their curiosity, courage, and compassion in all that we do.
With the blessing of Father Treacy, the board and staff of the Treacy Levine Center has been envisioning our mission and what our work will be in the future. Will it be similar to all that we do today? Will we need to embrace a new approach to include everyone in our diverse and ever-changing world?
In our many conversations with Father Treacy, we realized that our name may need to change to be effective in tomorrow’s world. For those of you who know Father Treacy or Rabbi Levine our name was meaningful and touched your heart. For the vast majority, however, this name was confusing. It didn’t immediately speak to what we do or how we create a path for people to see that different is not wrong – it didn’t express the very vision the Rabbi and the Priest had.
Their vision was for the entire human family.
Working with a branding consultant and with the blessing of Father Treacy, the Board has selected a new name: Paths to Understanding.
The concept of a “path” is a part of nearly every faith and wisdom tradition on the planet. We live lives that experience changes, challenges and growth on the journey of life–enriched by encountering others along the way.
The concept of “understanding” is also a profound word:
Understanding means comprehension, compassion and mutual agreements for the benefit of all. It is a word so complex and yet so simple.
Together, these words embody our mission and became our new name, Paths to Understanding. They express our mission of Bridging Bias and Building Unity through Multifaith Peacemaking better than we could have imagined. Father Treacy was beyond pleased at the name that was chosen and we are beyond excited to discover the path that our new name will take us on.
We live our mission through
- Inspiring Stories: We share stories that inspire us to multi-faith relationships and action.
- Nurturing Relationships: We foster relationships of respect between wisdom communities
- Acting Together: We support and train wisdom communities in multifaith peacemaking
The Treacy Levine Center is now Paths to Understanding. Join us on the Path to Understanding with curiosity, courage, and compassion for all of the human family.
